ResProj Paper Ideas

1) There is an abundant amount of literature to support an overwhelming conclusion that links crash dieting and the dangerous results of poor nutrition which harms ones health as a result.  Therefore, the question begs the answer, why do it?  The answer is not as simple as to “just look good".

2) Remember the old wise saying that something that sounds too good to be true—well it simply is not. This self-defeating nutritional behavior is studied by experts and they are speaking out about such diets, like crash diets, that are dangerous to our holistic health.  According to Cardiologist Isadore Rosenfeld, MD, a professor of clinical medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City, “these very low-calorie regimens are based on the false theory that the body needs help elimination waste”.

3) Many people who chose to go into the crash dieting have done so before. They know that by doing this they can have a quick fix. So a lot of times, athletes, dancers, ect will eat how they want knowing that when the time comes that the old crash diet will come to help them out. It becomes a sort of an addiction of sorts. You get so used to it that you continue to do this. Whether it is healthy or not people just choose to do this.

Integrating Sources

Example One:

"The Master Cleanse involves consuming a mixture of water, lemon juice, maple syrup, and cayenne pepper—and nothing else—for several days. "

Example Two:

"Research suggests rapid weight loss can slow your metabolism, leading to future weight gain, and deprive your body of essential nutrients. What’s more, crash diets can weaken your immune system and increase your risk of dehydration, heart palpitations, and cardiac stress."

These two quotes show you how much doing this can effect your overall health.

First Paragraph of my 2Syn Paper

Health is something that we all want. Being healthy will in part allow us to live a healthy and long life. Why is it when it comes to dieting, we want the get quick fix rather than putting in the hard work? We go against everything that we would normally do. Go buy diet pills or just stop eating entirely. Most people do not realize just how harmful going into dieting can be.

After reading this first paragraph what do you think my paper is about?

What is a Synthesis?

A synthesis is a combination of ideas. We use synthesis in our daily lives without realizing that we are doing so. When you have watched a movie or watched a new television show. You are synthesizing things to help put the connections together to help your friends or colleagues  see. You gather little bits of information together, looking for patterns or themes. When I looked at the two documents I could see that the main thing that linked them together was health. More so than that there were a lot of things that were different from that century to now. It is crazy the amount of things that change. You have a man who is dedicated to helping people and is a vegetarian. Has a place of business where he helps people. His ways of helping may be a little unconventional, but it worked. Crash dieting, if only people were to keep their doctors in on what they are doing the better off they would be in the long run. The majority of people would rather use their friends as their guide or just look to the internet or television to figure out what it is that they want. There are more differences from the 19th and 20th centuries to what we have going on now. It is amazing the things that have changed over the years and how we have become really more of a lazy society and would prefer to just take the easy way out when it comes to something as controversial as crash dieting.
